The Ferz is a simple leaper: it moves one square diagonally. Its name is derived from Persion "farzin" or "councellor"[1].

History

The Ferz appeared in Chaturanga and its successor Shatranj. It is still used in Makruk and Xiangqi, but was replaced by the Queen in Western Chess and the Gold General in Shogi.
